Artist Statement
In 2005, Ms. Abrams left a corporate career to transform her hobby into her profession. She moved to the artist colony in Rising Sun, Indiana to set up her studio and open her gallery. Able to pursue her love of clay full-time, she steadily expanded her skills and broadened the scope of her unique artistic expression.
Debby exhibits in local juried exhibits and regional art fairs. Her work is in many private collections and is featured in the latest Aftosa advertising campaign. She is a juried member of the Rising Sun Society of Artists and is on the Board of the Rising Sun Arts Council.
"The appeal of clay, to me, is twofold. First, there are the unlimited possibilities of process. The process is as meaningful, and many times more meaningful to me than my end result. The options and methods are innumerable. Experimentation need never end, and there is always a next opportunity and challenge. I revel in the malleable, plastic quality of the clay and in my ability to alter and impose upon it. I get a delicious illusion of control in a world where reality and nature afford us very little control."
